Brief
The white camellia stands as an iconic emblem on Chanel packaging and gift boxes. The white camellia’s simplistic elegance and enhanced beauty when paired with a black color made it Gabrielle “Coco” Chanel’s favorite flower. The concept for the mannequin is to become the essence of Chanel packaging, emulating the luxury of opening a Chanel box or holding a Chanel shopping bag, through the elaborate use of the white camellia and the iconic black and white combination of the Chanel brand.

Inspired by photos from Chanel’s The Little Black Jacket exhibition in 2012, the mannequin will be adorned with decorative white camellia flowers, paired with a velvet black skirt lined with a silky white frill. For this two-person project, dozens of white paper camellias were made by hand collectively to use to dress the mannequin. The mannequin sits on an elegant pouf wrapped in black fabric, and tied together with a giant printed Chanel branded ribbon.
